Performance

notes from proposal:
> synchronised beach ball scene inc giant 10' balls and light up balls
> swimmers with lights attached to costumes
> swimmers with live cameras under pool, project live footage on building > scene using dinghies, rubber rings, inflatables
> people under/behind recliners - deckchair dance
> flags, fabric, banners, towels waving

notes from meeting:
 - divers who are submerged at the start of the show surprise everyone and emerge 10 mins in..
 - these hidden freedivers/scuba divers could move props underwater

- the event starts from Undercliff Walk, through tunnel to the Lido. People could arrive via bike groups along the Undercliff, or boats from Brighton Marina.
Jessie's 'wild' swimmers could emerge from the sea and lead people to the Lido

from Flick Fernando:
If we are going through a time journey, it could be good to have a central character who moves through the whole thing, sometimes as observer, sometimes involved in the scene.
Could this character be a damn fine performer who can play different ages so we see them grow up throughout the the show and time narrative.
This way it can be kept simple and not too narrative heavy.

It would then be great to have a strong ensemble who are physical performers who can be trained to synchronise swim for one or two of the scenes. In my experience that's a better way round it, we used to train up really good physical actors to do our aerial stuff, I think it is really doable if we know what they are specifically doing.

We talked about releasing objects from within the pool, not sure what that is yet but either something that floats up and out off into the sky, or rubber rings that the performers run and jump into to start off a scene of a time when the pool was thriving and busy.

Can we find a way to hurtle a bomb into the pool to set of the chaos of war, very chaotic scene, building to a crescendo and then a still moment to close the pool. Could we allow masses of leaves to be shot out of something to land on the pool, if light enough could they be projected onto? Or loads of balsa wood aeroplanes? "

  1. Performers/swimmers hang large white towels on the upstairs railings which get projected onto…

Similarly, white deckchairs could be opened in unison and used as temporary projection screens
